Discover our Firebarns Mexican Grilled Tofu, an explosion of spicy and fresh flavors. Extra firm tofu is marinated in a sauce made with olive oil, cilantro, lime juice and our tangy Chipotle Rum, then grilled to perfection. Served with a vibrant Pico de Gallo and creamy avocado puree, this dish is ideal for lovers of vegetarian Mexican cuisine.


  • 1 block of extra firm tofu
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 50 ml Firebarns Chipotle Rum
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • The juice of a lime


  • 1 finely chopped tomato
  • 1 French shallot, finely chopped
  • 1/2 seedless jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • A drizzle of olive oil
  • Juice of half a lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  • 1 avocado
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • Juice of half a lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Pat dry the piece of tofu and cut into strips of approximately 2 cm. Mix olive oil, Chipotle Rum Hot Sauce, lime juice and cilantro. Pour over the tofu in an airtight container and refrigerate for 4 hours.
  2. Combine all the elements of the pico de gallo and keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
  3. In a small blender, combine all the avocado puree ingredients. Blend until the texture is smooth and creamy.
  4. On the BBQ at high temperature, grill the tofu pieces for about 2 minutes on each side, adding the marinade.
  5. Serve over the avocado puree, garnish with the pico de gallo and sprinkle with coriander.
