Spiced Apple Butter with Maple Syrup & Rhum Chipotle

It's apple season! Discover our spiced rum flambéed apple butter with our Rhum Chipotle sauce and maple syrup. Perfect for your cheese platters, charcuterie boards, or to add a sweet and tangy fall touch to your appetizers.

Ingredients

  • 4 Cortland or Gala apples, peeled, cored, diced;
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (or a little more according to your taste);
  • 2 oz spiced rum;
  • 1 to 2 tsp. Rhum Chipotle Hot Sauce (adjusted to taste);
  • 3 tbsp. butter (optional, for a creamier result).

Preparation

  1. Place 1 tablespoon of butter and the apples in a skillet over high heat. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, deglaze with rum, and flambé.
  2. Add maple syrup and Rhum Chipotle Hot Sauce and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 25-30 minutes, until apples are tender.
  4. Add 2 tbsp of butter and blend with a stick blender or food processor until very smooth.
  5. Allow to cool and place in resealable jars.
  6. Pour into clean jars. Keep for 2 weeks.
