Fried Burratini & Spicy Smoked Tomato Marinara Sauce

A decadent recipe of fried burratini served with a marinara sauce made with smoked tomatoes, red wine, Italian spices, shallot and garlic. All enhanced with the hottest sauce in our range, Scorpion Vodka and our Montreal Steak Seasonings served with prosciutto, crispy bread croutons and pesto.

Ingredients

  • 2 burratini
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • Serve with prosciutto, croutons and pesto

Spicy Marinara Sauce

  • 6 large tomatoes
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 4 to 5 drops of Scorpion Vodka hot sauce
  • 2 to 3 tbsp Montreal Steak Seasonings
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 2 French shallots, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Italian spices
  • Olive oil

Preparation

  1. Cut tomatoes into 4 wedges, spread on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the head off the garlic clove and add to the baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil over the tomatoes and garlic and sprinkle with Montreal Steak Seasonings.
  3. Place on smoker at 275°F for 2 hours and remove skin from tomatoes.
  4. In a saucepan, brown the shallots with a drizzle of olive oil. Add the tomatoes, garlic, wine, Scorpion Vodka hot sauce and Italian spices.
  5. Let the sauce simmer over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes and blend with a hand blender.
  6. In 3 separate bowls, add the flour, beaten egg and breadcrumbs.
  7. Dip the burratini in the flour, in the egg, repeat the flour and egg again and dip in the breadcrumbs.
  8. Fry in deep fryer at 375°F for about 5 minutes.
  9. Serve with croutons, pesto and prosciutto.
