Cheeseburger BBQ Meatball Sub

A perfectly buttered and grilled submarine bun, filled with juicy, perfectly seasoned beef patties, topped with melted cheddar cheese and crispy bacon. Add pickles for a kick, a generous dose of Texas Firebarns BBQ sauce for a smoky, spicy kick, and each bite becomes a firework of unapologetic comfort food. It's decadent, generous, and, above all, impossible to forget.

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 500 g of ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 3 tbsp. Texas BBQ Sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp. steak seasonings

Toppings

  • 8 slices of crispy bacon, roughly chopped
  • 8 slices of sliced orange cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pickles
  • Texas BBQ sauce (about 1/2 cup)
  • 4 submarine rolls
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Melted butter (for toasting bread)

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, Texas BBQ sauce, spices, salt, and pepper. Form into balls about 3 cm in diameter.
  2. Sear in a pan or on the griddle until nicely browned. Brush with Texas Firebarns BBQ sauce and continue cooking over low heat until well glazed and cooked through.
  3. Cook the bacon slices until crisp. Roughly chop and set aside.
  4. Butter the buns and toast them lightly inside.
  5. Place the meatballs in the bread (3-4 depending on size).
  6. Add 2 slices of melted cheese per sandwich, sliced pickles and crispy bacon.
  7. Drizzle generously with Texas BBQ sauce.
  8. Lightly close the bun, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds on top, then bake the subs for a few minutes in the oven at 400°F to melt the cheese and lightly toast them.
