California Sandwich

An explosion of flavors! Tender and juicy fondue meat, seasoned with our Montreal seasonings, grilled vegetables, melty Monterey Jack Habanero cheese and fresh avocados, all nestled in a crusty ciabatta roll. Top it off with a homemade chimichurri mayo, boosted by the perfect spiciness of our Firebarns Original sauce. One bite and you’re in California!

Ingredients

  • 300 g of fondue meat (beef)
  • 1 green pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1 white onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp. Montreal Steak seasonings
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • 6 slices Monterey Jack Habanero cheese
  • 6 small ciabatta rolls
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 avocados, thinly sliced

Chimichurri Mayonnaise

  • 1/2 cup store-bought mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped oregano
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 to 4 drops of Original Hot Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. crushed chili peppers

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix all the mayonnaise ingredients and set aside in the refrigerator.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the onions, pepper, fondue meat and Montreal steak seasonings with a drizzle of olive oil until the meat is cooked through.
  3. Open the loaves, place the bottom part on a baking sheet (stick the loaves together well).
  4. Place the filling on the buns, add the cheese slices and close with the bun tops.
  5. Brush with butter and place in the oven at 450°F for about 5 minutes.
  6. Add avocados and spread with chimichurri mayo before serving.
