Cajun Winter Soup

Beat the cold with this ultra-comforting soup full of character! Smoked sausages, baby potatoes and vegetables simmer in a creamy broth infused with our Original Hot Sauce and Cajun Mardi Gras seasonings for a guaranteed warming boost. A touch of melted cheddar cheese, a crusty baguette on the side… and voila, winter had better watch out!

Ingredients

  • 6 German style smoked sausages
  • 20 baby potatoes, cut in half
  • 2 celery stalks, cut into small cubes
  • 1 red pepper, cut into small cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp. Cajun Mardi Gras seasonings
  • 4 tbsp. Original Hot Sauce
  • 1 can of chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 100 g grated cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Serve with chopped parsley
  • Serve with a warm baguette

Preparation

  1. Cut the sausages into rounds of about 1.5 cm and brown in a large saucepan with a drizzle of olive oil for a few minutes or until the sausages are golden brown.
  2. Remove sausages from pan and add onion, bell pepper, garlic and celery. Add Cajun Mardi Gras seasonings and continue cooking for 3 to 4 minutes over medium heat.
  3. Add potatoes, Original Hot Sauce and chicken broth. Cover and simmer for about 25 minutes or until potatoes are cooked through.
  4. Add the cream, grated cheese and sausages, mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle with parsley and serve with a warm baguette and butter.
