Cajun Cheese Fondue

Ultra-flavorful Cajun cheese fondue: Gruyère and cheddar cheeses melted with white wine, garlic, and lemon, seasoned with Cajun spices and a dash of our Cayenne Hot Sauce. Perfect for dipping with bread cubes, baby potatoes, and any charcuterie you like!

Ingredients

• 200 g of grated Gruyère cheese
• 200g of grated sharp cheddar cheese
• 1 tbsp. flour (or corn starch)
• 1 clove of garlic, cut in half
• 250 ml of dry white wine (e.g., Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc)
• 1 tbsp. lemon juice
• 1 to 2 tbsp. of Cayenne Hot Sauce (to taste)
• 1 tbsp. Cajun spice mix (or more for those who like it spicy)
• Freshly ground black pepper
• Country bread cut into cubes
• Baby potatoes

Preparation

  1. Rub the inside of the fondue pot (or your saucepan) with the cut garlic clove to subtly flavor it.
  2. In a bowl, mix the grated cheeses with the flour. This prevents the cheese from becoming stringy or oily.
  3. Pour the white wine and lemon juice into the fondue pot and bring to a boil.
    simmer over medium heat.
  4. Incorporate the cheeses in small handfuls, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon in a figure-eight motion. Let it melt gently.
  5. Once the cheese is completely melted and the texture is smooth, add the Cajun spices, Firebarns Cayenne sauce, and plenty of pepper. Taste and adjust the spiciness to your liking.
  6. Keep the fondue warm on a burner and serve with the accompaniments.
